Apple to unveil HomeView smart home hub with Siri, display and A18 chip, report says
Apple will announce the HomeView, a Siri-powered smart home hub with an A18 chip, in countertop and wall-mounted models, alongside refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini devices, TechCrunch reports.

Apple is set to announce a smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, TechCrunch reports, citing Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The device would be the company's most serious attempt yet at a category where its earlier efforts have gained little ground.
What the HomeView reportedly is
According to TechCrunch, Gurman describes the HomeView as a Siri-powered hub with a built-in display, driven by an A18 chip. The concept is a central command point for the home: customers would use it to manage their other connected devices from a single screen.
The hub is expected to come in two versions, one sized for countertops and another built to be mounted on a wall. Neither report covers pricing or a specific on-sale date, so the key commercial details remain unknown ahead of the announcement.
More than one device on Tuesday
The HomeView will not appear alone. Gurman also reports that Apple plans to unveil refreshed versions of two existing home products: the Apple TV set-top box and the HomePod mini speaker.
TechCrunch adds that earlier in the week, Gurman reported on a coming Apple partnership with LG covering a smart lock, a thermostat and a doorbell — categories where Apple has never shipped its own hardware. If those reports hold, the combination of a first-party hub plus LG-built accessories would hand Apple a far broader home lineup in one announcement than it has ever assembled.
Apple's long-running smart home struggle
As TechCrunch notes, Apple has struggled to make headway in this market. HomeKit, its software framework for controlling third-party devices, never became a mainstream ecosystem the way rivals' offerings did, and the HomePod speaker found only a limited audience.
A display-equipped hub is a conspicuous gap in Apple's lineup. Competitors have sold screen-bearing smart speakers for years, positioning them as the default household surface for music, cameras, timers and intercom-style communication. The HomeView appears to be Apple's answer to that format, and the choice of an A18 chip suggests the company wants substantial processing to happen on the device itself rather than in the cloud, in line with its usual privacy positioning.
Why it matters
Apple's ecosystem strength has historically stopped at the front door: the company more often sells the phone that controls a smart home than the hardware inside it. A serious hub, refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini models, and an LG partnership spanning locks, thermostats and doorbells would amount to a coordinated attempt to change that.
For accessory makers, a high-profile Apple push could pull fresh attention toward HomeKit and the interoperable Matter standard Apple supports. For buyers, the open question is whether a late arrival with premium silicon can win a market that cheaper, earlier entrants have already seeded across millions of households. Tuesday's event should clarify the full lineup — and whether Apple intends to compete on price or, as it did with the original HomePod, on ecosystem integration alone.
