Paseo plugin brings Claude Code and Codex to Vercel Sandbox for cross-device agent sessions
Vercel's new Paseo plugin runs coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex in Vercel Sandbox, letting users start a session on a laptop and resume it from a phone.

Vercel Sandbox gains Paseo agent support
Vercel has shipped a plugin that lets Paseo users run coding agents in its cloud sandbox environment instead of on their own machines. According to the Vercel blog, the integration supports fx, Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode and Pi, meaning several widely used coding agents can now be launched as cloud-hosted sessions from inside Paseo.
Sessions follow you across devices
The core capability is session portability. A developer can start an agent in a Vercel Sandbox from Paseo on a laptop, then reconnect to that same session from a phone — even after the laptop has been shut. Because the agent process lives in Vercel's cloud rather than on the local device, the machine that started the session does not need to stay online for the work to continue.
Paused work is preserved as well. Vercel says that stopping a sandbox saves the files and conversation history it contains, so a user can pick up an agent session at the point where it was stopped. Running processes do not survive, however: they halt when the sandbox stops.
Model keys stay outside the sandbox
Authentication is centralised through the Vercel AI Gateway. During setup, a user enters their AI Gateway key once; the plugin then reuses that key for model requests across all of their sessions. Vercel notes that the key is kept outside the sandbox itself, which limits how exposed the credential is to anything executing inside the sandboxed environment — a relevant concern when agents routinely run commands and modify files.
How to enable it
The integration arrives as a plugin, and plugin support has to be switched on first in Paseo under Settings → Plugins. Installing it is a single command:
paseo plugin add vercel-labs/paseo-vercel-sandbox

Why it matters
Coding agents increasingly handle long-running jobs — large refactors, test-and-fix loops, multi-file edits — that outlast any single stretch of work at one machine. Hosting those agents in a cloud sandbox decouples them from a specific laptop or desktop, so developers can check in on, steer and resume sessions from whatever device is at hand.
The plugin also places Vercel in the growing infrastructure layer forming around agents. Sandboxes give agent-driven code execution an isolated, disposable environment, while the AI Gateway key handling puts Vercel in the path of how those sessions reach their underlying models. For developers already running Claude Code, Codex or the other supported agents through Paseo, the plugin offers persistent, device-independent agent sessions without having to maintain their own cloud compute for the purpose.
