Cursor, the AI-powered coding platform, has completed a move into SpaceX ownership. According to a post on dev.to, Cursor publicly confirmed on August 14, 2026 that it had officially joined SpaceX. TechCrunch, as cited in that post, separately reported that the acquisition closed in August 2026.
Cursor's own statement, which the dev.to article treats as the clearest primary source on the transition, says the company is now part of SpaceX and that it will integrate with SpaceX's broader AI initiatives. Beyond that, little has been published: no commercial terms, no rollout schedule, and no detailed description of how the integration will work in practice.
What is confirmed, and what is not
The dev.to write-up draws a sharp line between verified facts and speculation. Three things stand as confirmed: the acquisition is complete, Cursor says it will integrate with SpaceX's AI efforts, and future development of the platform will take place under SpaceX ownership rather than through Cursor's previous corporate structure.

The model access question
